65% of South Dakota corn, 64% of soybeans good to excellent

Crop conditions were on the decline again this past week in South Dakota.

The USDA says the state’s corn condition rating declined three percentage points to 65 percent good to excellent. Forty-two percent of the crop was silking, well behind 62 percent last year.

Soybean conditions were down four percent week-to-week at 64 percent good to excellent. Fifty percent of the crop was blooming, with 13 percent setting pods.

Winter wheat improved a point to 34 percent good to excellent. Sixty-four percent of the crop has been harvested.

Pasture and range conditions were rated 31 percent good to excellent, a decline of seven percent from the previous week.
