USDA says more than a million acres enrolled in latest Grasslands CRP
The USDA Farm Service Agency says it has accepted nearly one-and-a-quarter million acres of land in its Grasslands Conservation Reserve Program. Nearly two million acres was offered between mid-March and mid-May, three times the number offered during the last signup in 2016.
The FSA expects the total number of grasslands CRP acres to exceed two-million by this October.
USDA says the program supports grazing operations, plant and animal biodiversity and protection of lands under the greatest threat of conversion or development.
