Nebraska corn and soybean planting ahead of normal

Planting continues to outpace five-year averages in Nebraska.

USDA’s latest weekly crop progress report says corn is 76 percent planted compared to 59 percent a year ago and 71 percent on average.

Soybean planting is 62 percent complete, well ahead of last year’s 42 percent and 49 percent normally.

Sorghum is 10 percent planted, which is slightly ahead of a year ago but four percentage points behind the usual pace.
