Planting pace remains well ahead of the average, despite sporadic, sometimes heavy precipitation across the state.

The corn crop is 75% planted, compared to the previous year at 61% and the 5-year average of 67% with 47% of the crop emerged.  There is some yellowing of plants in saturated fields.

Soybeans are 48% planted compared to 38% last year and the 5-year average of 29%.  Twenty percent of the crop is emerged.  Much of the early-planted soybeans were able to survive the late frosts.
