9% of Indiana corn, 8% of soybeans planted

Cool weather last week did little to hinder planting progress in Indiana.

The USDA says as of Sunday 9% of the state’s corn crop has been planted, ahead of 1% last year and up from the five-year average of 6%.

Eight percent of the expected soybean crop has been planted, ahead of the five-year average of 3%.

USDA says many growers are waiting for warmer weather to continue planting.
