Saturated fields delay fieldwork in the Northern Plains

An agronomist in central Minnesota says saturated fields continue to delay planting.

Rick Swenson with Peterson Farms Seed says if the conditions warm up, fieldwork could begin later this week in the Northern Plains.

“Hopefully we can get rolling by early May and we’re looking at mid-May as the time we are really moving.”

Swenson says last week’s snow is soaking into the soil. He says that moisture is needed for a good start to a crop in Minnesota and South Dakota.
