Tennessee crops: soybeans 68% and cotton 58% rated good to excellent

A hot and dry week helped farmers make progress in the fields, but now, rain is needed.

Statewide, soybeans are 86% planted with 77% emerged; and 68% rated good to excellent.  Cotton is 25% squaring, 1% setting bolls, and 58% rated good to excellent.

Winter wheat is 43% harvested. 

Pastures are rated 51% good to excellent.  The first cutting of hay is 87% complete. 

Topsoil moisture is 56% and subsoil moisture is 67% adequate to surplus.
