Iowa farmers make little planting progress

Corn planting continues to move slow in Iowa.

The USDA says at just 14 percent, this year’s pace trails 2021 and the five-year-average by nearly two weeks.

Seven percent of the soybean crop is planted, 12 days behind a year ago and 11 days slower than normal.

Oat planting is at 72 percent with 32 percent emerged, over one week off the usual pace.

USDA says livestock conditions were good with calves growing well despite muddy feedlots and pastures.
