Crop progress update shows moderate drought relief in Nebraska

The latest crop progress and condition report from USDA says 28 percent of Nebraska’s crop is in, nine percent behind last year. The state remains severely dry but did improve on the week with topsoil moisture 31 percent adequate-to-surplus and subsoil moisture is 34 percent adequate-to-surplus.

Soybean planting is near last year’s market at 19 percent complete.

Winter wheat is rated 39 percent poor to very poor and 25 percent good to excellent.

Eighty-eight percent of oats are planted, three percent behind last year.
