Mary Kathleen Dwyer, 98, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Lutheran Homes.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at St. Mathias Church. Please join the family for cookies and coffee at Gannon Hall immediately following the Mass. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Ss. Mary Mathias Parish. Mary was born on November 28, 1923, in Muscatine, the daughter of Stanley and Annabel L. Hamlin Spaulding. She married Lawrence J. Dwyer on December 8, 1945, at St. Mathias Church. He preceded her in death.
Mary graduated from Muscatine High School. She was a member of the Ss. Mary Mathias Parish. Mary enjoyed baking, cooking, dancing, all needlework, and home décor. She took pride in creating her own clothing. Mary loved and nurtured her children, grandchildren, and siblings.
In later years, she helped her husband establish the Municipal Golf Course. She also worked at Thatcher Glass, Wilson Shoe Store, Grain Processing Corporation, and Von Maur retail store. After retirement, Lawrence and Mary enjoyed their day trips.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Kathleen Fahy (Jeffrey) of Muscatine, Gerald Dwyer (Kathryn) of Missoula, Montana, Patrick Dwyer (Diane) of Davenport, and Janice Bryant of Bradenton, Florida; seven grandchildren, Brett (Dwyer) Wolever (Phyllis), Lucas Dwyer, Matthew Fahy, Nicholas Fahy, Sarah Fahy, and Gabriel Kerr (Heather); four great grandchildren, Olivia, Owen, and Wade Wolever, and Richard Fahy; and siblings, Leroy Spaulding, Robert Spaulding (Jo Ann), Larry Spaulding (Sally), Helen Funk, and Judith Rogers.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; son, Timothy L. Dwyer; and granddaughter, Emily Ann Dwyer.
