South Dakota corn harvest nears 90%

South Dakota farmers took advantage of beneficial harvest weather again last week.

USDA’s latest crop report says corn harvest progressed to 89 percent, compared to the five-year average of 79 percent.

The sorghum harvest is 93 percent complete, compared to 86 percent normally.

Sunflowers are 83 percent harvested, ahead of the average pace of 73 percent.

And the bulk of South Dakota’s winter wheat crop is rated either poor or fair.
