Walz extends drought order to support Minnesota livestock producers

Governor Walz has extended his order waiving trucking regulations to support Minnesota livestock producers recovering from this year’s drought.

Since July, Walz has relaxed certain hours and service restrictions for drivers transporting commodities related to livestock feed.

He says although the seasons are changing, the effects of drought aren’t over and farmers still need help.

In September, the Governor announced a $10 million drought relief package that includes $5 million in rapid response grants and $5 million for the Rural Finance Authority’s Disaster Recovery Loan Program.

The executive order is effective immediately and will remain in effect for 30 days.
