52% of U.S. corn, 60% of soybeans harvested
The U.S. corn and soybean harvests have both passed the halfway mark. That’s following a week of mixed conditions in region, including heavy rainfall in some areas and winter-like conditions in parts of the Plains.
The USDA says 52% of the U.S. corn crop is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 41%, with 97% of the crop mature, compared to 93% on average, and 60% rated good to excellent, steady on the week.
60% of soybeans are harvested, compared to the usual rate of 55%, and 95% are dropping leaves, matching the five-year average.
70% of winter wheat is planted, compared to 71% normally in mid-October, and 44% has emerged, compared to 47% on average.
28% of cotton is harvested, compared to the typical pace of 34%, and 86% of bolls have opened, compared to 88% on average, with 64% of the crop in good to excellent shape, unchanged from last week.
92% of rice is harvested, compared to 91% on average.
25% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, 1% more than last week and up 5% from last year.
The USDA’s next set of production estimates is out Tuesday, November 9th.
