Rains mostly welcomed

Drought conditions continue to decline in Michigan as significant precipitation fell across most of the state last week.

Corn condition declined three points to 76 percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition. Fifty-nine percent is in the dough stage while five percent is dented.

Soybeans improved three points to 75 percent good to excellent. Ninety-two percent of soybeans are setting pods.  Ninety-three percent of dry beans are setting pods.

Early season peach harvest is underway with excellent sizes and flavor reported, blueberry harvest continues.  Disease and pest pressures continue to plague vegetable growers following hot and humid weather.
