Nebraska wheat, oats well ahead of last year

The USDA says Nebraska corn condition is 84 percent good to excellent. Ninety-five percent of the crop has emerged, six percent ahead of the five-year average. 

Soybeans are rated 86 percent good to excellent with 84 percent of the crop emerged, 14 percent ahead of the average. 

Winter wheat is rated 56 percent good to excellent with 79 percent of the crop headed. That’s 13 percent ahead of last year. 

Oats are rated 55 percent good to excellent with more than half of the crop headed, 20 percent ahead of last year. 

Topsoil moisture was 75 percent adequate and two percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was 70 percent adequate and three percent surplus.
