SD’s “good” corn condition drops
South Dakota’s corn crop condition dropped more than 20 percentage points in the “good” category in the past week. Now, just 43% of corn is rated good with 39% in fair shape and 15% poor.
Nearly 100% of soybeans were planted as of Sunday, the USDA NASS office says, ahead of last year and the average. 85% is in fair to good condition.
Sixty-seven percent of spring wheat is in fair to good shape. Seventeen percent has headed.
Sixty-four percent of Winter wheat is headed with more than 60% fair to good.
Oats and sorghum are rated mostly fair. Sunflower planting is more than half done, ahead of last year and the average.
Fifty-four percent of pastures and rangelands are very poor to poor.
