Farmer describes smooth start to planting

Southeast Missouri farmer Pat Hobbs says the planting season is off to a smooth start.

“This has been one of the best early springs that we’ve had probably in five years,” he says. “Corn and rice went in really nice and we got off to a great start and hopefully we can continue here shortly”

He tells Brownfield they’re getting ready to start soybean planting.

“We haven’t started planting soybeans yet,” he says. “We were finishing up corn and were about to switch to beans, but we’ve gotten really wet in the last week or so.”

Hobbs grows corn, soybeans, and rice in Dudley.
