South Dakota House passes hemp bill

The South Dakota House this week passed a bill approving industrial hemp and the measure now goes to the state Senate.

But, the bill does not have one of the four guardrails that Governor Noem said must be in any hemp legislation – and that is the funding mechanism.

Her spokesperson says the governor continues to work with lawmakers to craft a bill that meets her requirements. The Senate is not expected to take up the bill next week.
