Cloyde Burton ‘Pete’ LaRue, 87, passed away on December 28, 2024, at Lutheran Living.
Funeral Service will be at 12:00 p.m., noon, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Dave McIntosh will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pete was born on May 19, 1937, in Muscatine, the son of Donald and Lillian Osborn LaRue. He married Donna Weikert on June 12, 1955, in Muscatine at the Lincoln Blvd. Baptist Church.
He worked as a bricklayer mason for Carl Sachs Inc and owned and operated LaRue Contractors. He later worked for Pyxis Refractory in Davenport.
Pete was a member of the Lincoln Blvd. Baptist Church, the Moose Lodge, Eagles, Bricklayer Union, and the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge. He never met a stranger.
He enjoyed rebuilding his vintage truck, woodworking, building and refurbishing clocks, hunting, and was an avid fisherman. He was up for the challenge of raising two girls and loved grilling for his family, Sunday taco dinners, and sitting in his mancave shack next to the pool where he enjoyed Schlitz beer.
Pete is survived by his wife, Donna LaRue of Muscatine; two daughters, Roxie Peters and husband, Tim, of Muscatine, and Robbie Hinz and husband, Ed, of Wheatland, Iowa; one grandson, Brandon Strause and wife, Ashley, of Muscatine; two great granddaughters, Zelda and Ember; sisters-in-law, Beverly Marlowe, and Rosie Weikert; and brother-in-law, Richard Weikert.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald LaRue; two grandsons, Dustin and Sean; in-laws, Emmett Sr. and Mavis Weikert; and brothers-in-law, Emmet Weikert Jr., John Weikert, and Kenneth Weikert.
