The public is invited to attend a reception at Muscatine City Hall on Thursday evening to welcome Matthew Mardesen as the new City Administrator. This event offers an opportunity for community members to meet Mardesen and learn more about his vision for the city. The reception will take place from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m., just before the City Council meeting begins.
The evening is a great chance to connect with local leadership and engage in the ongoing development of Muscatine.
The final meeting of the Muscatine City Council for 2024 will be a rather short one with just four action items on the agenda. The meeting will begin with the swearing in of City Clerk Cinda Hilger, Assistant City Administrator Anthony Kies, and City Administrator Matthew Mardesen.
The public is welcomed, and encouraged, to attend the session when the Council meets at 6 p.m. Thursday in the City Council Chambers on the second flood of Muscatine City Hall. The meeting is open to all individuals regardless of language spoken or disability. Any person requiring a reasonable accommodation to participate should contact the City Clerkâs office at 563-264-1550.
The Council will be asked to set a public hearing on January 2, 2025, on proposed zoning changes at 3580 Mulberry Avenue. ORA Orthopedics is proposing to construct a medical clinic at the northwest corner of Mulberry Avenue and the U.S. 61 Bypass.
Also on the agenda is a resolution to change the authorized signers for the City of Muscatine bank accounts, a request to submit an amended and restated grant agreement with the USDOT under the Fiscal Year 2022 RAISE Grant Program, and a request to approve a contract with Horizon Architecture to prepare residential model home designs that will be included in the Muscatine County Pattern Book.
Details and additional information on these agenda items can be found by clicking AGENDA and clicking on the December 19 City Council Agenda link to view the agenda and/or attachments, or to download a PDF version of the City Council agenda and/or attachments.
Several options are available for those who cannot attend in person but would like to watch the proceedings. The City Council meeting will be broadcast live on the City of Muscatine YouTube channel and on Civic-TV (Muscatine Power & Water Cable Channel 2).
