The City of Muscatine will close access to Weed Park at 6 a.m. Sunday, May 26, for the 44th running of the Melon City Criterium sponsored by the Melon City Bike Club and Harper’s Cycling and Fitness. Local traffic will be permitted into the park again on Monday, May 27.

There will be no parking on Hillcrest and on Oakland Drive, or in the alley running from Hillcrest to Park Drive.

The Melon City Criterium is just one of four events that comprise the Iowa Memorial Weekend Cycling Classic. The weekend also includes the Friday Night Fever event on May 24 and the Snake Alley Criterium on May 25, both in Burlington, and the Kwik Star Criterium on May 27 in Davenport.

The Melon City criterium begins at 8:30 a.m. and includes a four-mile junior race and an 11-mile race.
