Staff reports on research for a City of Muscatine tagline, upgrades to the parking meter technology, and the organizational structure of the Department of Community Development will be presented to the Muscatine City Council during their in-depth session Thursday, May 9.
Communications Manager Kevin Jenison will provide a presentation on how the search for a City of Muscatine tagline is proceeding and include what the next steps are. A new tagline is being considered to help promote the growth of the City of Muscatine while emphasizing its history and uniqueness as the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
Finance Director Nancy Lueck along with Information Technology Manager John Kreuzenstein and City Administer Carol Webb will provide the City Council with an overview of the proposal to upgrade parking meter technology in Downtown Muscatine. The presentation follows several months of collecting information on meter enhancements that would allow for acceptance of debit/credit cards or other forms of payment at the meters. Information was also gathered as to the cost of new meters, transaction costs for accepting these payments, and impact on meter rates.
Webb will also lead the presentation on the organizational structure of the Department of Community Development and the Housing Department. The City Council will have two options to consider, the first being to keep the combined departments as they are, and the second to separate the departments.
