The USDA says turkey hatchery numbers declined in February. That’s in line with USDA expectations for lower production in 2024 due to slower demand and producers trying to improve prices.
There were 25.043 million turkey eggs in incubation at the start of March, down 1% from the start of February and 6% below a year ago.
20.175 million poults were hatched in February and 18.548 million of those poults entered meat production, both down 7% on the year.
