Public input sought on Devitt Sidewalk Project

The City of Muscatine will host a public meeting on Wednesday, March 13, concerning the planned installation of sidewalk on Devitt Avenue. The informational meeting will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Muscatine City Hall.

The City of Muscatine is currently in the design phase of the Devitt Sidewalk Project. Currently pedestrians must either walk in the street of walk-through yards along this corridor. The exact location of the sidewalk that will run from Newell Avenue to West Fulliam Avenue has not been determined but some survey activity is currently underway.

The proximity of McKinley Elementary School and Susan Clark Junior High School, and the number of students walking to school was one of the key reasons that the Muscatine City Council made the addition of sidewalk on Devitt a priority.

All residents of the corridor and any other interested individuals are urged to attend this meeting and discuss any concerns about the addition of the sidewalk with City of Muscatine staff.
