Hay supply under pressure in Tennessee

Moderate rainfall and warm temperatures were two features of February in Tennessee.

The USDA says those conditions have helped pastures bounce back from drought last fall and the deep freeze in January, with early season grasses starting to emerge.

That should help relieve some of the pressure on hay supplies, which dipped to 41% poor to very poor, compared to 36% at the end of last month.

Pasture and range conditions and livestock conditions did see month-to-month improvements and 52% of winter wheat is in good to excellent shape, 2% more than a month ago.
