Sharon was born in Muscatine on May 24, 1937, the daughter of Bert and Fern Sharar Hartman. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1955. Sharon married Dean Dahms on March 25, 1956. They were blessed with two children, Doug and Lori. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on March 25, 2024.

As a lifelong resident of Muscatine, Sharon worked in the Muscatine School District office and later as a teacher’s aide. She was a homemaker and managed the farm for 15 years while Dean also drove truck. But most of all, Sharon was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active, longtime member of the Sweetland Methodist Church. Sharon enjoyed sewing and quilting, and she gifted family and friends with beautiful, intricate, machine embroidered, greeting cards. She was also an expert in jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Sharon enjoyed playing cards and liked country music.
