Richard Lee Schmelzer

Richard ‘Dick’ Lee Schmelzer, 91, formerly of Cranston, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Lutheran Living.

The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Muscatine Humane Society. Dick and Jeannie will be buried together in Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Dick was born on September 22, 1932, in Lone Tree, the son of Ethel (Bernadine) Schmelzer and Raymond Schmelzer. Dick was united in marriage to Jeannie Edgington on June 30, 1978.

Dick retired from Monsanto and later worked for Replica.

He is preceded in death by his wife on August 21, 2022; his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Bill; and sister, Shirley.
