HPAI confirmations continue to pop up in Iowa

More cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza have been confirmed in Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship says the affected sites include a mixed species backyard flock in Cerro Gordo County and a hatchery in Kossuth County that raises game bird pheasants, quail, and chukars.

The disease has now been detected 13 times in the state since October. State Ag Secretary Mike Naig says poultry producers need to report any sick birds or unusual deaths to state or federal officials.
