The 2023 Muscatine Turkey Trot Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, November 18, at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. The event will be hosted by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department and the Muscatine Running Club.
This “Predict Your Time” race allows the competition runner, novice jogger, and avid walker to participate equally in the event. Those who predict their race finishing time the closest in their age group will be awarded a frozen Thanksgiving turkey. Only one turkey may be won per family.
No participant will be allowed to use any kind of a timing device as they compete against each other for the closest predicted time. The actual time will be recognized as either plus or minus to the predicted time. No splits will be given. There will be male and female divisions for all ages including 11-year-olds and under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and older.
The cross-country course will be set up at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course with two starting times for the races. Participants 14-years-old and under will run a one-mile course beginning at 10:00 a.m. while participants who are 15-years-old and older will run a three-mile course starting at 10:30 a.m.
The entry fee is $15.00 if you are registered by Wednesday, November 1. The fee increases to $20.00 on November 2, but contestants can register up to race time. T-shirts will be given to all registered participants. Late or day-of-race registrants are not guaranteed t-shirts on the day of the event.
Anyone interested in participating can register at the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department, 215 Sycamore St. Registration forms with check payment may be mailed to the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department office and can be found online at www.muscatineiowa.gov/509/Special-Events.
