Michael O. (Mick) Black passed to his new beginning on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Mick was born on September 2, 1949, in Clarinda, IA, the son of W. Merrill Black and Betty D. Black. He grew up on a farm with his sister, graduated from Clarinda High School and continued to receive a business administration degree from the University of Iowa.
Mick was united in marriage on August 31, 1969, to Sally M. Grimes in Clarinda.
Mick’s entire career was in human resources at HNI Corporation (primarily the Prime-Mover division) and at C. & D. of Muscatine, Inc.
Mick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who generously loved his family, his church, the community, and served them all passionately during his lifetime. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Muscatine, and was faithfully engaged as a ruling elder, deacon, youth leader, and adult Sunday School leader. He was an avid fan of the Hawkeyes, Cornhuskers, and St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed attending concerts of various musical genres.
Mick is survived by his wife, Sally, of Muscatine; his daughter, Megan Dusing and husband Dan, grandson Owen Dusing and granddaughter Madelyn Dusing of North Liberty; his son Douglas and his wife Kelly and granddaughters Remi Black and Clea Black of Iowa City; his mother, Betty of Clarinda; and his sister, Becky Roe, of Spencer.
Mick is preceded in death by his father; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Ruth Grimes; and brother-in-law, Jerald Roe.
