17% of Ohio corn, 49% of soybeans harvested

The USDA says Ohio farmers made significant row crop harvest progress ahead of some late-week rains.

As of Sunday, 17% of the state’s corn crop has been harvested – behind the five-year average of 24%, with 86% of the crop mature.

Soybeans harvested reached 49% completion, just ahead of the five-year average pace of 48%. Ninety-five percent of the crop is dropping leaves.

USDA says 52% of the state’s expected winter wheat crop has been planted, below 64% on average.
