Wheat export sales hit a marketing year high during the week ending October 5th. The USDA says wheat sales were up solidly on the week thanks to purchases by China and unknown destinations, which might turn out to be China when it’s time for delivery. Global demand for U.S. wheat has been slow, but higher prices in Russia and some difficulties moving grain out of Ukraine could improve prospects. Soybean and rice export sales were also up on the week, while corn, sorghum, cotton, beef, and pork declined.
