Soybean crops nearing harvest

Soybean crops nearing harvest

Recent dry weather is helping Michigan soybeans get closer to harvest.

Mark Seamon is the research director for the Michigan Soybean Committee.

“We’re seeing a lot more maturity than we had seen in the last few weeks with lots of soybean plants losing leaves and getting to drier conditions that are nearing harvest,” he says.

He tells Brownfield most of harvest should kick off in mid-October.

“We’ll get a little bit harvested here in September, but it looks like that second half of October will be when the majority of soybeans in the state of Michigan are harvested—hopefully if the weather cooperates,” he says.
