A sluggish start to the week for cattle futures

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were lower waiting for direct business to develop.  October live cattle closed $.60 lower at $186.32 and December lives closed $.82 lower at $191.  October feeders closed $3.52 lower at $260.95 and November feeders closed $2.70 lower at $265.42.

Direct cash cattle trade activity started the week quietly.  Showlists are somewhat lower in Texas and lower in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado.  Bids and asking prices have yet to be established.
