A gradual warming trend ahead for the Heartland; a largely dry period

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures and near- or below-normal rainfall across much of the country. Cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to an area stretching from the southern Plains eastward to the Atlantic Coast States from Georgia to Virginia.

Meanwhile, wetter-than-normal weather should be limited to New England, parts of California, and southern sections of the Rockies and High Plains.
