‘Empty those bins’ recommends merchandiser

A Michigan-based grain merchandiser says farmers have been much more willing to market new crop commodities in recent weeks.

Ben Warolin with Zeeland Farm Services tells Brownfield, “I think the attitude has changed just dramatically from the middle of June to the end of August here.” “There was a perception on a lot of farmers’ behalf that the yields were going to be just awful,” he shares.

He says decent soybean prices have the attention of his customers in the Eastern Corn Belt, but they are less likely to commit to sales for this year’s corn crop.
