Naig says Iowa crops have been resilient

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says crop conditions have been a mixed bag across the state due to ongoing drought.

“The two things you don’t want in a farm operation are uncertainty and variable conditions,” he said. “That’s really what we are staring down largely.”

But he says recent history shows crops have been resilient to the challenging conditions. “I think we hit a record, a record you don’t want to hit, which is we’ve had 165 consecutive weeks of drought in the state of Iowa.
