Eastern SD farmer done with spring planting

A farmer in eastern South Dakota finished planting on Friday.

Paul Casper tells Brownfield once he could get into the field to plant corn in early May, progress moved quickly.

“Our last corn field is popping through the ground. Emergence has been even and we had dryness early on, but recent rains helped make up for any mistakes we had,” he says. “The soybeans are looking good.”

Casper says with warmer temperatures in the forecast, broadleaf weeds will start popping up.
