96% of Missouri corn, 62% of soybeans planted

Nearly all of Missouri’s expected corn crop is in the ground.

The USDA says as of Sunday 96% of the state’s corn has been planted, well ahead of last year’s 60% and the five-year average of 73%. Seventy-eight percent of the crop has emerged.

Sixty-two percent of soybeans have been planted, compared to the five-year average of 24%. Thirty-six percent of the crop has emerged.

Cotton planting reached 69% completion, compared to the five-year average of 41%.
