Corn and soybean planting continues to progress ahead of the average pace in South Dakota.
The USDA says as of Sunday 49% of the state’s expected corn crop has been planted, compared to the five-year average of 41%. Eight percent of the crop has emerged.
Soybeans planted was 29%, ahead of 14% last year and 22% average. Just 1% of the crop has emerged.
The state’s spring wheat planting reached 84% completion with 37% of the crop emerged.
