During the next few days, heavy rain will be focused across the nation’s mid-section, first on the northern Plains, then over the south-central U.S. The bulk of the northern Plains’ rain, totaling 1 to 3 inches, will fall by Friday.
Rain in the south-central U.S. should become heavy on Friday and will persist through the weekend. Excessive rainfall (locally 4 to 8 inches or more) could lead to flooding in parts of central and southern Texas.
