USDA allocates more aid to distressed farmers

The USDA is rolling out an additional $130 million in assistance for distressed farmers facing financial risk.

The agency’s announcement comes after a similar $123 million allocation in March. The funding is part of $3.1 billion in Inflation Reduction Act funds to help distressed farm loan borrowers.

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says that since the IRA was signed by President Biden in August, USDA has provided approximately $1.1 billion in immediate assistance to more than 20,000 distressed farmers.
