A northwest Iowa farmer says the planting pace has picked up in his area.
Kelly Nieuwenhuis raises corn and soybeans in O’Brien County. “It finally has started to warm up, so I feel pretty good about putting seed in the ground.”
He tells Brownfield soil conditions have been favorable. “We’ve got a few tiles running this spring, which we hadn’t see in a couple of years. We feel good about moisture availability.”
Nieuwenhuis says some timely rains will be needed throughout the growing season.
