Farmer says corn planting should get underway later this week

South Central Minnesota Farmer Tom Haag says the planting season is off to a slow start due to cool and wet conditions in his area.

“We need that sunshine to come out and get into the 60s. We are supposed to be into the 60s later this week,” he says. “I was out checking a few of the fields yesterday and they’re coming along. If we can get this warmth and keep the rain away, our goal is to start putting some corn in the ground on Thursday or Friday.”

He tells Brownfield he typically likes to start planting in April.
