SD spring wheat planting starts slow

With fewer than three days suitable for fieldwork South Dakota farmers kept moving forward with spring wheat planting.

USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service says 4% of the spring wheat is planted in South Dakota, an increase of three percentage points from the previous week, but well below this time last year and the five-year average.

Winter wheat conditions are rated 29% good to excellent, a four-percent improvement from the previous week.
