Planting in Tennessee ahead of the average pace

Corn and soybean planting pace continues to run well ahead of the average.  Forty-nine percent of the corn crop has been planted, compared to 23 last week and the 5-year average of 29%.  Eleven percent of the corn crop has emerged.  Soybeans are 16% planted, ahead of last year’s and the 5-year average of 3%.  Cotton is 3% planted compared to the five-year average of 1%.  Apples are also ahead of the average with 78% in full bloom compared to last year at 70% and the 5-year average of 76%.
