Spring wheat planting continues to lag in South Dakota

Mother Nature hasn’t cooperated for farmers trying to plant spring wheat in South Dakota.

The USDA says as of Sunday just 1% of the state’s spring wheat crop has been planted, well behind 24% last year, and 15% for the five-year average.

Winter wheat condition is rated 24% good to excellent.

Four percent of oats have been planted in the state, well behind 25% last year, and 14% for the five-year average.
