Marjorie L. Garvin

Marjorie L. Garvin, 83, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids.

Marjorie was born on January 2, 1940, in Letts, the daughter of Albert O. and Alberta Helen Statts Foster. She married Gerald T. Garvin on November 25, 1956, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2012.

Marjorie was self-employed, working in childcare, for 33 years, for many families. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed making crafts and having craft shows with her craft friends group, Country Friends. Marjorie was a seamstress, making her children’s clothing and many dresses and flowers for weddings. She also made Santa suits for her family. Marjorie was in the same card club for 45 plus years.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Cynthia S. ‘Cindy’ Midkiff and husband, James, Muscatine, Barry Garvin and wife, Mary, Cedar Rapids, and Scott Garvin and significant other, Cathy Hill, Muscatine; four grandchildren, Abby Rinard and husband, Corbin, Indianola, Matt Garvin and fiancé, Triston Tompkins, Muscatine, Sam Garvin and fiancé, Alyssa Westpheling and her daughter, Josephine ‘Josie’, Van Horne, and Anna Garvin, Des Moines; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Logan Rinard, and expected great granddaughter in April; siblings, Betty Theobald, Muscatine, Loretta Brady and husband, Gil, Muscatine, Cheryl Austin, Wilton; brother in laws, Kenneth Simons, Muscatine, and LaVerne D. Garvin, Dallas Center; and many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie is preceded in death by parents; husband; siblings, Phyllis Simons, Dorothy Simons, Dean Foster, Harry Foster, and Bill Cozad; brother in laws, Carl Theobald, Roy Austin, and Eldon Simons.
