Minnesota Legislature takes break after “intense” start

Minnesota legislators are on recess and the director of public policy for Minnesota Farm Bureau says the session has been fast-paced and intense.

“So there’s been a lot of bills seeing movement and finding discussion, and certainly that means that there’s been a lot of work to do.”

Pierce Bennett tells Brownfield a relevant bill to Farm Bureau members is the Soil Health Financial Assistance Program.

“That would help give financing to farmers for equipment and other tools necessary to help them in their soil health management, whether that be cover crops or other management practices on their farms.”

He says there are also some bills Minnesota Farm Bureau is concerned about including legislation to restrict the use of treated seed.
