A pattern shift to warmer, drier days ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, with the greatest likelihood of warmth expected across parts of the western and central U.S. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather along the Atlantic Seaboard, in the lower Rio Grande Valley, and across Washington.
